Hurricane
Oh, Sister
Simple Twist Of Fate
Personnel:
Rob Stoner (bass)
Scarlet Rivera (violin)
Howie Wyeth (drums)
Another Rolling Thunder warmup, but this time an advance peek at Dylan's
new band. The Desire album hadn't yet been released, but the single Hurricane was already being played on the radio, so most of the audience was probably
already familiar with the song when he launched into it on this television
tribute to John Hammond taped for PBS. Using a very small backup band consisting
of Rob Stoner on bass, Howie Wyeth on drums, and Scarlet Rivera on violin,
Dylan performed mature, fully realized versions of Hurricane, Oh, Sister, and Simple Twist of Fate. I think it would have been spectacular to have an entire concert with
this minimal band. This tape is highly recommended.
