Deportee
North Country Blues
Spanish Is The Loving Tongue
Blowin' In The Wind
This is without a doubt the very worst Dylan performance I've ever heard! I found it hard to believe that I was listening to the same man who wrote and sang so many great songs, and yet it's true. Supposedly Dylan and Phil Ochs had been drinking a lot of wine throughout the day and Dylan was just barely able to stand up straight by the time of the performance. At one point, so the legend goes, he fell off the stage. Deportee is sung by Arlo Guthrie and both Spanish Is the Loving Tongue and Blowin' In the Wind feature Dylan joined by Guthrie, Dave Van Ronk, Phil Ochs, Larry Estridge, Melanie, and Pete Seeger. Such an unlikely combination (for 1974) didn't in itself hold out much promise. Dylan's only real solo number is the rarely performed North Country Blues, and even this number is massacred by Dylan's very weird delivery. This tape is a pretty good audience tape, but I can't recommend it to anyone but the most diehard Dylan collector. CDs and LPs: none that I know of |
