San Francisco Bay Blues The Great Divide |
Only two songs of this much longer PA tape are in circulation. Where is
the rest? For now we have to content ourselves with this very good
sounding sample. On this tape, Dylan and Jim Kweskin duet on San
Francisco Bay Blues and The Great Divide, and the results
are raucous and informal.
This short tape (approximately 10 minutes), like the first Gaslight Tape from earlier in the same month, is a good example of the type of live performances Dylan was giving in late 1961. Still finding his voice, still finding his style, but still deeply immersed in the Woody Guthrie songbook. This tape is not essential, but would certainly make a nice companion piece or filler for the Gaslight or Riverside Church tapes. |
